“Untitled” Exhibition at Bourse de Commerce

Published: July 27, 2021

Swiss artist Urs Fischer’s “Untitled” installation in the rotunda at the Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection is a series of wax sculptures that are candles. The sculptures are lit on the first day of the exhibition, and as the candles burn, the monuments take on a different life. Among the group is a replica of Giambologna’s “The Abduction of the Sabine Women.” The exhibit lasts as long as the candles continue to burn. It is a tribute to impermanence, transformation, the passage of time, metamorphosis, and creative destruction. Photos by Dewey Rodefer.
